Inter After Coolers are used in many applications, including air compressors, air conditioners, refrigerators, and gas turbines, and are widely known in automotive use as an air-to-air or air-to-liquid cooler for forced induction (turbocharged or supercharged) internal combustion engines to improve their volumetric efficiency by increasing intake air charge density through nearly isobaric(constant pressure) cooling.
Air preheater are heat exchanger to preheat or air heating of the combustion air by means of flue gas, steam, water or thermal oil. Air preheaters are used when exhaust temperatures of combustion systems are particularly high. This extracts the hot exhaust valuable energy, which discharged otherwise unused into the atmosphere and warming means of this exhaust heat the combustion air of the combustion process.
Water cooled chillers absorb heat from process water and transfer it to a separate water source such as a cooling tower, river, pond, etc. Industrial water chillers are generally used for large capacity applications, where the heat generated by air cooled chillers creates a problem. They are also considered when a cooling tower is already in place, or where the customer requires optimum efficiency of power consumption. Water cooled chillers require condenser water treatment to eliminate mineral buildup. Mineral deposits create poor heat transfer situations, that reduce the efficiency of the unit.

A cooling tower is a heat rejection device which rejects waste heat to the atmosphere through the cooling of a water stream to a lower temperature. Cooling towers may either use the evaporation of water to remove process heat and cool the working fluid to near the wet-bulb air temperature or, in the case of closed circuit dry cooling towers, rely solely on air to cool the working fluid to near the dry-bulb air temperature
